Richard B. Cheney has served as a public servant for many years as well as a successful businessman. Cheney is currently Vice President of the United States. Cheney has been a prominent name in Washington over the years. George W. Bush was the president of the 4th generation to which he was a part of. Bush selected Cheney on July 20, 2000 to be his vice-presidential running mate being impressed by Cheney's intelligence and judgement. Dick Cheney was a chief of staff to presidents. He also was a member of the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense and served the nation in various roles. Both Republicans and Democrats appreciate his integrity. Cheney has said that he regards his role as an honest yet discreet advisor to the Bush administration. Cheney, who accepted the Republican Vice-Presidential nomination in 2007, said he was looking forward to being under a President who is able to work across party lines and work with political rivals by fostering goodwill and working towards a common goal. Richard Bruce Cheney, son of Richard Herbert Cheney & Marjorie Lauraine Dickey was born on January 30, 1941 at Lincoln Nebraska. When he was 13 years old, Bruce and his family moved to Casper (in the state of Wyoming) which is where his father was director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's soil conservation district.
