Katherine Heigl is open about growing up within "a White bubble." She also explains how that realization has affected the parenting style of her adopted children who are multi-racial. She was in the movie "Firefly Lane" spoke to a reporter that it did not matter the color of her skin to her. However, after meeting her adopted Korean American older sister she realized the difference in how people were treated by her. Meg was asked whether her treatment was different when they were out together with their parents and then in the case of going out on their own. She answered, "Oh yeah, always!" Heigl explained to Parents: "That was when I discovered how naive I caused me to feel." The actress said that she was upset, but she felt that she had to channel that energy in order to assist her adopted daughters. Heigl is with Josh Kelley for 13 years they have a son Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr. They have adopted Nancy Leigh from South Korea aged 12 in 2009, and then Adalaide whom was eight years old older and was Black in 2012.
